UniFi Network Security: Secure Deployment for Businesses
Choosing a gateway, a stack of switches and a set of access points is the easy part of a network project. The architecture around them decides whether the result is secure, and that is where Allendevaux treats a UniFi rollout as a security engagement rather than a hardware order.
The hardware is not the hard part
UniFi gives you capable equipment at every tier, from Cloud Gateway and Dream Machine models through Enterprise Campus switching to Wi-Fi 7 access points. None of it compensates for a flat network, default VLANs, unmanaged IoT devices or remote access opened in a hurry. Most of the incidents that start on a network start in those four places, which is why the design comes before the purchase order. Allendevaux starts with the question no datasheet answers: what must never be able to reach what?
What a secure UniFi design looks like
Five decisions carry most of the risk, and every one of them is made before anything is racked:
• Segmentation first. Separate networks for corporate devices, guests, IoT and OT, and the management plane itself, with traffic rules between them that reflect how the business actually works.
• Identity-aware access. 802.1X with RADIUS where the environment supports it, WPA3 on modern access points, and per-device credentials for the equipment that cannot do either.
• A hardened management plane. Controlled access to the UniFi controller, whether hosted, on a CloudKey+ or on an Enterprise appliance, with multi-factor authentication and a change process behind it.
• Visibility that leaves the console. Logs and alerts forwarded to wherever your team actually watches them, rather than sitting in a dashboard nobody opens between incidents.
• Remote access by policy. Site-to-site and user VPN configured deliberately, instead of forwarded ports that quietly become the easiest way in.
Why organizations choose UniFi with Allendevaux
The value of the platform is real: centralized management, scalable hardware, integrated security features and a path that covers IoT, cloud and remote work. What a box shipper cannot add is the next step. Allendevaux designs the network, deploys it, and then tests it with the same people who run penetration tests and vulnerability management for clients. The network that gets handed over has been attacked on purpose before it carries production traffic.
Where compliance comes in
Segmentation, access control and logging are not only good practice; they are what auditors ask to see. ISO/IEC 27001 expects network controls to be defined and evidenced, and NIS2 obliges in-scope entities to show risk management measures covering exactly this ground. Because Allendevaux also delivers internal audit and certification support, the network design and the evidence behind it come from the same place, which saves rebuilding the story at audit time.

Allendevaux designs, deploys and validates UniFi networks for organizations that cannot afford to treat connectivity and security as separate projects. Frequently asked questions
What is UniFi?
Ubiquiti's networking line: gateways, switches, access points and controllers managed from one interface, used from small sites up to enterprise campuses.
Why deploy UniFi with Allendevaux rather than buy the hardware alone?
Because the risk sits in the design. Allendevaux plans the segmentation, access control and monitoring, installs the equipment to that design, and validates it afterwards.
Can UniFi meet enterprise security requirements?
Yes, when it is designed to. The platform supports segmentation, 802.1X, WPA3 and centralized logging; a default configuration uses almost none of it.
How should IoT devices be handled on a UniFi network?
On their own segment, with outbound rules that allow only what each device needs, and monitoring on that segment. Most IoT equipment cannot be patched or authenticated like a laptop.
Does a UniFi deployment help with ISO 27001 or NIS2?
It supplies the network controls and the records behind them. Allendevaux pairs the deployment with internal audit so the same evidence answers both the auditor and the regulator.
